Rendang Oma Keenan’s business history

Starting with the end of the business owner’s tenure, that is, myself from a profession that I have been in for more than 40 years.

I am a professional in the field of cosmetic manufacturing and have dedicated most of my tenure in one of the leading cosmetic companies. I used to work hard and didn’t imagine life after retirement without anything to do.

Because my hobby is cooking, I try to make the traditional food of my homeland, namely rendang. The work that started out as just a time-consuming job turned out to be fruitful. Finally, I decided to pursue this business more seriously by looking for business legality (SKDU) and product distribution license (P-IRT).

Recently I have felt encouraged by the progress made by my fellow UKM friends and have been trying to find the right means to ‘upgrade’ and finally decided, based on suggestions from some friends, to participate in the WPC Incubation.

Obstacles encountered :

  1. Primary packaging is suitable for rendang products, considering that rendang is oily and must be stored in the freezer so that it is durable and must be heated when eaten – packing must not leak and can stand cold and heat – Done
  2. Shelf life should be longer – On progress.
  3. Increase marketing, target to export.
